An American Coin Silver covered pitcher, mark of William Forbes for Ball, Black & CO., New York, circa 1845: Of paneled form with a leaf-capped handle, chased and engraved with acanthus leaves enclosing floral and foliate cortouches, the helmet form upper rim repeating the chasing, the incurved cover with a beaded border, one panel engraved as a presentation "F & MTC / TO / W. PITBLADDO"; height is 12 1/2 inches, weight is 39.15 Troy ounces.
