A parcel-gilt American coin silver compote, no maker's mark, circa 1860. Of flared circular form on a tapering stem and circular spreading foot, the rim engraved with a greek key border and applied with figural goats, the up-swept handles with bull's masks, the stem and foot chased with wheat and tobacco plants and applied with acanthus leaves; height to the rim is 9 inches, diameter is 10 1/4 inches, weight is 48.05 troy ounces.
