An American coin silver coffee pot. Mark of James Conning, Mobile, Alabama, circa 1850: Urn-shaped, raised on a circular foot, applied with die-rolled borders, the foot and shoulder chased with lapels, the body with blossoms, leaves, and shells enclosing a cartouche on either side, each side engraved with a gothic monogram "J.M.F.", the spout and upswept handle repeating the foliate motif; height is 12 1/4 inches, weight is 27.40 troy ounces.
